Hitoner
ヒトナー | humaner | skinnie
This is the premise of Hitoner (Hitonā), the latest serialization from Tomohiro Yagi, which launched on Shonen Jump+ in early 2026 following a viral 2024 one-shot.
In this sci-fi comedy-drama, a lone human astronaut named Hitoshi crash-lands on a distant planet inhabited entirely by a society of diverse, civilized beastfolk known as the Kemo. To the animal-like inhabitants, "humans" (or Hito) are legendary, semi-mythical creatures often portrayed as terrifying, invasive monsters in their folklore, causing the astronaut's arrival to trigger a global panic. The story follows the "human observation" of Hitoshi by Tonelico, a feline government secretary who finds herself fascinated by the alien biology and culture of the strange, hairless visitor. As Tonelico becomes a "Hitoner"—the beastman equivalent of a "furry" enthusiast—the manga explores deep themes of interspecies diplomacy, biological wonder, and the sociopolitical upheaval that occurs when a myth suddenly becomes a living, breathing reality.
